...When the Night Comes...

There is this cigar I was given a few months ago on the very condition of me smoking it. I haven't - and after taking a drag, I realized I couldn't - but I gave it to Florian Wiesner (filmmaker/producer) who approached me a few months ago with the idea of making a short inspirational documentary capturing the essence of Icon Klub--"I know there is a story behind every item in the bar! I can feel it," he said.

So we started filming last week. It was a lot of fun to experience a major synchronicity of ideas and vision along with the support of friends and visitors who participated and contributed to the making of this film.

Below are some of the only photos I took during the 6 days of shooting,  The unusual activity became a habit after day 1, and when it was all over, I didn't know what to do with my suddenly  "unsupervised" free daytime for a couple of days! :)

the last bit- day 6, and then we all rested.
The black & white images we are using in the film are snapshots taken by Scottish artist/musician Don Wright -alias The "Invisible" Photographer  www.donwrightimages.com

For background music all I wanted was "Mirage" by Ladytron from the album "Gravity the Seducer".
Daniel Hunt (founding member, songwriter and producer of the electronic band Ladytron) was sipping his Caipirinha on the Icon porch about 2 years ago - being definitely at the right place at the right time. When we started filming I asked him if we could have this energetic, inspiring tune for our theme and he yessed it the same day. The approval made me dance to it!  One more big cyber-hug to you Daniel, if you are reading this!

The filmmaker holding an extension of his eyes that notices all details and compresses years of action into an approximately 4 minute film - or rather an animated flashback - to be uploaded for the public in a few weeks. Can't wait to see it!

With all of it done, with the cigar having been smoked, us sitting on the porch sipping a whiskey on the rocks, we felt what Anaïs Nin knew all along:

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.”
